MY THREE FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI

by Michael Vaughn

“Food may be essential as fuel for the body, but good food is fuel for the soul.” — Malcolm Forbes

You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy eating well. Most people enjoy eating out, whether it’s their favorite fast-food restaurant or a fine-dining experience. There are lots of reasons we may choose to eat out, whether it’s to save time, celebrate a special occasion, or because we love to experience new cuisine.

While it’s wise to not spend more than we can afford, we all deserve to enjoy a good meal every once in a while. Fortunately, if you’re in the Springfield, MO, area, there are many great restaurants to choose from. These are my three favorite restaurants my family and I frequent often and what I would recommend if you’re looking for somewhere special to dine.

PEKING HOUSE

If you’re in the mood for Asian food, Peking House won’t disappoint. I like to eat locally whenever possible, and this establishment has been locally owned and operated for the past 35 years! They serve quality Chinese food in a clean, comfortable environment and even offer Wi-Fi as a bonus. They can accommodate up to 20 people for a larger party. Don’t leave without trying the General Chicken and Crab Rangoon (my favorite)!

JOSE LOCOS

Taco Tuesday—’nuff said! What could be better than tacos and guacamole, right? Jose Locos knows how to do both well, so if you go on a Tuesday, be prepared for a lively crowd. Although it’s definitely worth the wait, they also serve an excellent variety of Mexican food any day of the week. While they don’t have an official website, you can view their menu and some photos online. Late last year they closed down their two locations to open one new location on Glenstone Avenue.

BAMBINOS

Last, but certainly not least, on my list is Bambinos. Voted one of the best restaurants in town, clearly I’m not the only one who loves their great Italian fare served in a welcoming, casual atmosphere. While it’s hard to choose a favorite dish from the menu, their meatballs are awesome, so you can’t go wrong there. The menu is the same at their two locations (one on Battlefield Road and the original on Delmar Street), so you will still get the same great quality food and service no matter which you visit.
